A sad day for Braves fans everywhere

August 4, 2008

Braves announcer Skip Caray died. This is yet another sign that the old Braves (by which I mean the Ted Turner owned, able to be viewed on TBS every night, dominating starting pitching, win the division every year, Sid slid, Dave Justice in the outfield, Leo Mazzone rocking in the dugout Braves) that I grew up watching are no more. Once Chipper, Smoltz and Glavine are gone, that will be it. I’ll always be a fan, but it won’t be the same without Skip. I’ll forever remember him making fun of the movies coming on TBS after the games, and being an absolute homer for the Braves, as any respectable announcer should be.
